About the Spanish football team

During international football competitions, Spain is represented by a selection of players which becomes the Spanish team.

The team, which was established in 1920, is called the "Selección de fútbol de España". It has other nicknames such as la Selección, la Furia Roja, la Roja or la Furia. For its emblem, the team chose the coat of arms of Spain and the colours red, yellow, blue and black for identification. The headquarters of this Selección, whose President is the former Spanish footballer Ángel María Villar, are located in Madrid. Vicente Del Bosque, also a former Spanish player, has been the team's coach since July 2008. La Roja plays in several stadia such as Sanchez Pizjuan, Santiago Bernabeu, Vicente Calderon, Estadio de Mestalla and also Nou Camp. The Spanish team has to its credit, amongst others, a World Cup win in 2010, and three European championships won in 1964, 2008 and 2012. It has many iconic players such as Alfredo Di Stéfano, Ricardo Zamora and Luis Suárez. This season, other players such as Sergio Ramos, David Silva or Iker Casillas will wear their country's colours during a Spain match at Stade de France.
